Haiku as a form to express your feelings, scenes you are seeing, or depicting nature is gaining popularity in English speaking cultures. The attraction maybe in its simplicity - you can ignore rigid rules of grammar, rhyming schemes, even length when you try to make haiku in English.
You can concentrate on the image you would like to describe, the choice of vocabulary, and the expression of your inner voice. Even for Japanese, making haiku in a traditional way is not easy. However, with English the joy of creating something very individual seems to bring the langugage closer to you. Enjoy making haiku in English, and enjoy English!
